"Never think that a small action done to your neighbor is not worth much.
It is not how much we do that is pleasing to God, but how much love we put into that doing."

- Mother Theresa

During the liturgy, the Lector proclaims the Word of God.
Two readings are proclaimed, one from the Old Testament
and one from the New Testament prior to the Gospel.
In addition, the Lector is called upon to lead the Assembly
in the General Intercession and other ancillary prayers.

The highly respected and visible roll of Lector
necessitates preparation and practice of the readings
as well as the technical skills
of effective oration and delivery.

Assignments to specific liturgies
are made 1-2 months in advance.
Several resources are also made available
and are provided in order to assist with practice
for the readings prior to the assigned day.
These include workbooks
which deal with difficult pronunciations,
as well as materials that assist
with delivery and academic/spiritual formation.

The Training of Lectors is done on a one-on-one basis,
by mutual agreement of the Lector and the trainer.
