Confirmation

"Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit...in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of the Christian life. To this end catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church, as well as the parish community." (CCC, 1309)

St. Monica High School Confirmation

The ‘Youth’ Confirmation reparation program is for any teen of the parish grade 9 thru 11, who has already received the sacraments of Baptism & Eucharist.

Sessions begin in September and are held once a month at three different times (always centered around the Liturgy), culminating in the Celebration of Confirmation in May (this year on May 20th with Bishop Gries at the 12 Noon Mass). Confirmation is not "graduation" from religious education, nor is it meant to teach everything there is to know about being Catholic, but instead should flow out of a young person's active participation in the faith, through what they learn in the family and in the faith community.

During the months of preparation, teens will be called to serve at the weekend Mass in the areas of hospitality; *lector; *server; and *cantor (*training required). Sponsor and family members are highly encouraged to attend Mass with the candidate as a sign of encouragement and support.

St. Monica Adult Confirmation

If you are an adult that has not of yet been confirmed, we would like to help you complete your initiation into the Church. Any Baptized Catholic who has received his or her First Communion is eligible (with some other restrictions.)

Beginning in the Fall, we will offer preparation session. We can repeat them at other times as the need arises. Even if you are the only one, we can move forward with you. Please just let us know how we can help. Once you have received this Sacrament, you can be a Godparent for Baptism or a Sponsor for Confirmation yourself.
